Beach Getaway, Siesta Key FLORIDA!

Posted on

After Easter each spring, when the majority of the tourists go back north,  the locals start to come out to enjoy our amazing beaches on Siesta Key.  Did you know that we are voted the Number 1 Beach in the country again this year?  It's our little secret that the months of April - June are the BEST for enjoying the sun and surf here.  Morning and evenings still cool down enough to enjoy any activities outdoors, and the mid eighty-degree temperatures during the day are ideal for lazy sunbathing and swimming.

So whether you are visiting or live in the area, here are our suggestions for a fabulous weekend at the beach.

Saturday morning:
Get up with the sun and start your day with a tall glass of filtered water with the juice of 1/2 lemon.  Not only does it detox your liver and boost your immune system, but it's also a great tonic for your skin, helping fight blemishes and wrinkles.  Another added benefit is that the pectin fiber in lemon juice helps you feel less hungry, keeping your bikini body looking slim and trim!  I like to do a body scrub before a day in the sun to ensure a smooth and even tan, one of my favorites is the Peppermint Scrub from Malin + Goetz, available at Simply Spoiled downtown, 1471 Main Street.  After your shower, apply a good sunscreen head to toe because we are heading to the beach.

8AM - Beach Yoga on Siesta Key

Bring a mat and towel, your Swell water bottle and a zen attitude and enjoy yoga outdoors.  Located just behind the green lifeguard stand at the Siesta Key Public Beach, Ava's class will rejuvenate you and wash away any remaining trace of your work week!  We have these great styles from Alo Yoga at our Lotus Siesta Key boutique to brighten up your Saturday.  Class ends at 9:30.  Say Namaste and head into the Village for a yummy breakfast at The Sun Garden Cafe, 210 Avenida Madera.

11AM

Time for some retail therapy at LOTUS boutique,  5118 Ocean Blvd. in the Davidson's Plaza.  Shop for your favorites from Vince, James Perse, Mara Hoffman, Ella Moss, Splendid, Michael Stars, Citizens of Humanity and more!

 Noon

Get yourself to one of the quiet beach accesses and set up your umbrella.  Enjoy a few hours of sun and surf, a good book and maybe a little cat nap!

6PM

Glowing from the sun and freshly showered, towel dry your hair and spray with texturizing spray for a tousled, beach wave style.  I like the Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray, available at Amanda Vincent Salon on Pineapple Avenue Downtown.  Put on a little mascara and lipgloss, slip into the Mara Hoffman dress and Vince sandals you bought at Lotus this morning, and head to the end of Avenida Messina to take in the sunset.  When you've said goodby to the day, head back to The Cottage at 153 Avenida Messina for a cocktail and casual dinner.   After dinner you can hang out there for some live music outside, or bar hop the other Village watering holes.

Sunday Morning

Sleep in!  You're on vacation after all.  When you are ready to get moving grab the NY Times Sunday paper and head to Bonjour French Cafe, 5214 Ocean Blvd., for a cafe au lait. For breakfast, I recommend the Croque Monsieur, served with home fries and salad.

Back to the beach today for more fun in the sun before packing up the car for home.   Keep the salt on your skin to remind you of the day, toss on your Sundry pink sweatshirt and you're ready to go.  Stop by Local Coffee in the Davidson's Plaza on your way out of town for a freshly squeezed juice or iced coffee for the road.   Relaxed and refreshed, you'll be ready to go out and conquer your world!  Come back soon!
