At once feminine and beautifully tailored, the Ulla Johnson label includes custom prints, globally influenced embroidery, and the use of beautiful textural fabrics to create collections that consist of standout pieces that are versatile and wearable.
Born and raised in Manhattan, she traveled the world with her parents, both archaeologists. Her design style grew from these inspirations, but she is a true New Yorker and that is evident in her mix of styles; uptown chic and downtown cool.
Ulla now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children. She readily admits that she designs for herself; here is a quote from her interview with Dhani Mau for Fashionista. “I travel a ton, I live in the city, I go to the beach in the summers, I want things that are extremely versatile and also can be elegant, can be easy, can be beachy, can be refined, but look great after you’ve been laying on the beach for 10 hours, look great when you’re walking in Nolita.”
