The Life of Running a Fashion Boutique

Posted on

I am told that one of the best parts of owning your own fashion boutique is going to the shows, and hand picking all the newest designers and styles for the upcoming seasons. One of the reasons that it’s so great is because with each piece chosen there is usually a loyal customer’s personal style in mind.  Spring is on its way, which means in the fashion world, we are one step ahead, choosing styles for Summer and Fall.  Wendy and Harmoni are in Atlanta this weekend writing style after style to make sure everyone gets what they want these upcoming seasons.

As most of you know, Wendy has been the owner of Lotus Boutique in downtown Sarasota for the past 10 years. She not only LOVES fashion, but she loves serving the women of Sarasota, in a way that no other can. Along with Wendy, there is Harmoni who most of you know for her honesty, great style and one-of-a-kind personality. Harmoni adds a whole new dynamic to the feel and look of Lotus and alongside Wendy, they make a amazing team! Wendy and Harmoni make a trip to New York twice a year to do all of the buying for Lotus. They consistanly write the lines that we all love including Nation, Daftbird, Citizens of Humanity, JBrand, Paige, Alexis, Alice and Olivia, Krisa, Lanston, Equipment, Gypsy 05, Young Fabulous and Broke, Feel the Piece, Rebecca Minkoff, Foley and Corinna, Lulu Frost, Chan Luu, Vanessa Mooney.... need I say more?  They always write the lines we love, but usually pick up a few new lines to add something exciting to every season. There is a lot of behind the scenes labor and fun that goes into running a fashion boutique, and they are incredible at it.

November brought a whole new love into their lives, Lotus Boutique on Siesta Key. Together, they opened Lotus’ second location with the sexy, beach bum, fashionista in mind.  The style over there is similar to Lotus on Main Street but with a relaxed vibe running through the whole place.  New lines like Rory Becca, Rails, James Perse, Ella Moss, Lauren Moshi and Boys and Arrows are six valid reasons to stop in and check out what the Siesta Key location has to offer.

Through the years, Wendy has had stylists and customers come and go, and I have to believe she has touched all of our lives in a beautiful way. She is not only a great boss, but she is encouraging and instills in all of her young stylists that anything is possible and to follow whatever dreams we may have. I personally am very lucky to have crossed paths with Wendy and Harmoni.

This blog is dedicated to Wendy and Harmoni to show them how much they are appreciated. Let’s be honest, without them none of us would look as fabulous as we do every day!

Peace and love to all,
Amy Jane
